In mid November Pax and I flew up from NC to help my mom and Ed prepare the plants on the farm for the cold winter ahead. Winterizing the lavender was the biggest task of the weekend. After three growing seasons (and lots of lessons learned about how to best cover the lavender to survive the winter winds from the river) Mom and Ed have it down to an art. Still, it’s a lot of labor so it was fun to be up and offer some help with this back breaking task. We also cut back perennials, dug up tubers to store til spring and prepared the gardens and grounds for winter. Pax was a great little helper digging in the dirt. Mason was a good playmate but mostly he lounged in the sun to watch us work.
WellWed Maine + New Hampshire feature
We just love WellWed! It’s a beautiful publication filled with wedding day inspiration and fantastic artwork. We’re so excited the editors chose to feature Marianmade Farm as a venue in the latest issue of WellWed Maine + New Hampshire. If you haven’t found your copy yet, here’s a sneak peek:
Marianmade Farm lavender honey at Treats in Wiscasset
Photographer Meredith Perdue made a recent trip up from Portland to Marianmade Farm. On her way she stopped by one of our favorite Wiscasset shops, Treats. Treats was recently featured as a finalist in Martha Stewart’s “American Made” awards. Mere snapped this iPhone photo of our lavender honey on the shelves of this well-curated market. We’re thrilled Treats is offering Marianmade Farm honey this fall. Can’t wait for you to try it!
Floral photos from Jen Huang + 100 Layer Cake Feature
Earlier this summer we were lucky enough to create the florals for a beautiful wedding at Laudholm Farm. We were especially lucky to have Jen Huang shooting the wedding, because we’ve got some stunning floral images to share! One of our favorite blogs, 100 Layer Cake, featured this wedding earlier in the month, and we hope you’ll check out their post HERE! Special thanks to Jen for the images below:
Lavender Farm Wedding by Sarah Der
This summer we were lucky to have our long-time family friend (who just happens to be a stellar Boston photographer!) on the farm shooting Lindsay & Adam’s wedding. Sarah Der is incredibly talented, and we just love the images she shared on her blog post from this wedding. We’re including a few of our very favorites below (ok, maybe more than a few. It was hard to pick!), and urge you to check out Sarah’s site for more of her pretty images!
We were thrilled to have Sarah Goodwin, of Daisies & Pearls and Trillium Caterers back at our farm for this wedding! Two very top-notch Maine wedding creatives who helped the couple realize their vision for their wedding, and kept things running smoothly while the guests had a great time!
